About last week: 8th September 2019

Much the same this week, work wise.

Over the last few months, I've been rebuilding a dirt bike (a '97 KTM) which I tore down about 12 months ago and has since been sitting in a shed. I don't have much (any) mechanical expertise, but I'm finding it to be a fascinating learning experience and source of focused attention. On Saturday, I took the bike into the Rising Sun Workshop and we got it running for the first time.

At the same time, I've been rereading Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance by Robert M. Pirsig, a fictionalized autobiography and exploration of the metaphysics of quality as it applies to motorcycle maintenance. A great companion to the real thing.

Finally, I glimpsed the first true signs of spring in Sydney this week - a few warm, relatively still nights, the air filled with bogong moths and the sound of crickets.
